Who they are

About The Ambulance Staff Charity

TASC is dedicated to supporting the ambulance community with their mental, physical and financial wellbeing.

The Ambulance Staff Charity is the leading UK charity supporting current and retired ambulance services personnel and their families, whatever their role, including the crews on the road, control room staff, managers, support staff, student paramedics and volunteers.

Its support spans mental health, including counselling, PTSD and trauma support, physical rehabilitation, financial grants and debt advice, bereavement support, and an online Wellbeing Hub. TASC also runs an independent, confidential mental health and suicide-prevention line for ambulance staff. It receives no core statutory funding for much of this and relies on the generosity of supporters.

Why it matters to us

The blue light family looks after us. We should look after them.

Atlas Printing was built around treating people fairly and looking after them properly. The people who answer 999 carry things most of us never have to see, and a charity that catches them when it gets too much is one worth shouting about.

Supporting good causes isn't a side note for us, it's part of how we think a business should behave. We already run Designed by Bristol, a charity design competition raising money and awareness for TASC, because we believe in giving something back to the community we're part of.

The toll of the job

Why their work matters so much

Ambulance staff face distressing and traumatic scenes as a routine part of the job. Over time that takes a real toll, and it's exactly what TASC is there for.

Trauma comes with the job

The distressing scenes ambulance workers face on the front line put serious strain on their mental health and wellbeing, and demand for support, particularly around mental health, keeps growing.

A 24/7 lifeline

TASC runs an independent, confidential phone line for ambulance staff experiencing suicidal thoughts, staffed by qualified counsellors, available at any hour.

Sexual harassment on the job

Ambulance staff are among the hardest hit by sexual harassment. Just under a quarter reported unwanted sexual behaviour from the public in a single year.

Abused or attacked daily

In 2024/25, UK ambulance services recorded over 22,500 violent incidents, around 62 staff abused or attacked every single day, nearly three an hour.

Why you should care

Behind every call, a person

Behind every call are real people with real stories. These are their stories, in their own words, with TASC.

After working as a paramedic for over 10 years, Daniel went to a series of traumatic jobs that left him feeling devastated, lost and unable to face any more death.
Daniel's story, The Ambulance Staff Charity

With TASC's help I was able to return to work with a different view and perspective. I may have further issues along the way but with the strategies I now have, I will hopefully find it much easier to manage and understand them.

Alexa's story, The Ambulance Staff Charity

My caseworker was brilliant; nothing was too much trouble, and they explained every step as we went through the forms. I would just like to thank TASC for the amazing work you do.
